Well, here I am back in sunny Brisbane and ready to get stuck in!!! Seeing as this is my first blog (in Australia) I will give you some history on myself...
I have been a photographer for....let me think.....for 7 years!!! I have always loved photography, even as a child, I would take my mother's camera and photograph my friends and family. I decided to make photography my profession in 2003 and applied to study a Diploma of Photography with the Southbank Institute in Brisbane. Thankfully I was accepted and spent 2004 & 2005 working my butt off. I was also very fortunate to have great mentors at that time (you know who you are) who taught me a lot of what I know now and helped me into the industry. Straight out of college and I was offered a full time position as a photographer at a boutique Brisbane portrait studio. I spent a very stimulating 18 months with the studio and had a ball photographing lots and lots of families.
My other passion in life is traveling and it was in May 2007 that my partner and I made the big decision to head off and live, work and travel in London. We ended up staying 3 years and absolutely love it! I spent part of those 3 years working for a photographic agency. Photographing events, sports and more corporate sort of stuff that was focused around people. I was even fortunate enough to have some of my images feature in 'the times' newspaper and also photographed Prince Charles. However, I realised I missed the more personal approach that came from photographing portraits and weddings. I was missing the personal relationship you made with your clients, so I decided to start my own small photography studio. So, back into wedding and portrait photography. I rented my own small studio space in London and had a great time photographing my clients and getting to know each and every person. I learnt a lot about running a business during this time and enjoyed working for myself.
Alas, the UK story must end. My partner was offered a great job in Perth, Australia! So off to Perth we went, sad to leave the UK but excited to be back in Australia. Because we decided Perth would be a short term thing, I decided to go back and work for a studio. We had a gorgeous time in Perth and loved the beautiful beaches and consistent sunshine! I enjoyed being back in a studio and took the time to hone in on my skills.
So, we are now back in Brisbane where we plan to stay! We have a beautiful place in East Brisbane where I have set up my studio and I am now working out of it. I am so excited to be finally doing this! It has been my dream to work from my home and give my clients a more personal experience. I feel like I have spent the last 7 years working up to this point and now it has actually happened!!! I look so forward to meeting you and giving you a unique, personal and fun experience with images that you will adore for many years!!!!
